Sapporo, Hokkaido Yuki Matsuri ( Winter Snow Festival)

Two weekends ago I went to the 69th annual Sapporo Snow Festival up north in Hokkaido. It was something so unique and very cool (literally), although it was surprisingly much warmer up there than it currently was here in my hometown. Sigh the snow. I have been doing everything to try to enjoy it more.

I was lucky enough to go, since I decided I would check out the festival 2 months before ( This was almost too late considering it is a festival that attracts millions from all over the world every year) Everything was booked and I was lucky enough to find a round-trip ticket that worked with my schedule and a cute hostel walking distance from the festival.

I arrived and got a limousine ( I know sounds fancy right? but it is just a large bus) bus ride to downtown Sapporo! I dropped off my stuff and headed to the susukino. I had prepared for dinner at ramen alley. I tried to eat at the ramen shop Anthony Bourdain ( you know that top chef?) recommended but it was packed so I headed to the next long line, and my ramen was delicious! I walked off the calories and headed to bed, the next day was long.

Susukino

Ramen Alley.

Most delicious miso ramen...ever.

I woke up Sunday morning to a beautiful sunny day, perfect for walking outside and seeing ice sculptures.
My trendy night accomodation, highly recommend.

One of two many Mexican restaurants I saw! I never have enough time to eat everything I want...or a big enough stomach.

Frozen fish.

This bomb, huge, creamy, yogurt-granola-strawberry dessert/breakfast thang.

Festival Food!

This ice sculpture was bigger than my selfie makes it to look.

Russian dolls!

One of the cooler sculptures, Final Fantasy 14.

This guy scared me trying to eat my head when I went in for a picture.

Sapporo's old clock tower, looked out of place among the huge modern buildings.

People traveled from all over the world for the Sapporo Snow Festival.

Inner-tubing fun!

I love corn!

Two of my favorite things, corn and horses.

I was so happy to see that the festival had designated smoking rooms! Something I have not seen in outdoor spaces in Japan. My lungs were happy!

Most delicious cone ever. If you ever find yourself in the presence of a cremia, you must.

Ducks having fun around the snowy pond.

Hokkaido's government building.

And lastly my favorite sculpture of them all, the cup noodle soup! And it was a slide too!

All in all the festival was fun. Checked that off my list. On to the next adventure, Nagano. I will write about it in the next couple days. It has been my favorite trip thus far.

Adios!

Koyo

"Before it's your favorite place, it's a place you've never been " It is Koyo ( the changing color of the leaves, autumn) season! I have always loved the fact that Oregon gets 4 seasons. Japan gets four seasons as well! The bright oranges and reds are just incredible here. I have been revisiting some of my favorite spots around my new town to see how they change with the seasons. Here are some pictures at Jogakura Bridge.

Okinawa Get-Away

" Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer"-Unknown Heart shaped rocks in Oki Well I finally checked off one of the prefectures I wanted to visit off my list. Okinawa, Japan it has been called the Hawaii of Japan by many tourists. I have been to Hawaii and I agree that it is the paradise of the country. I went with my friend Anna and a new friend that made (friend of Anna's) Ben. We rented a car and three different AirBnB night accommodations while we were in Okinawa, at it was the best decision we made because we got to see everything we wanted to see! Granted the Island is not that huge but still, we checked off our lists.  Rainbow and unicorn bagels at Caracalla. Our first stop was Caracalla bagels, and boy was I glad we got our hands on these colorful bagels...because they had the last 3 when we got there! They sell out everyday and we went on a Thursday thinking we wouldn't have that issue. Phewww that was close. Lowkey (thanks Ben...

Ya'll asked for it so here it is: My 10 day itinerary for The Philippines.

Twin lagoon. Oh boy was it hard to pick what Islands I would explore. I had been waiting to visit this beautiful side of the world for soooo long and I kept putting it off because the planning for it is difficult. The Philippines is composed of over 7,000 islands and transportation from island to island is not that simple or convenient at times  depending which ones you want to see). But guess what I finally made an itinerary and it worked out perfectly and now I am back. I still can't believe I checked off The Philippines from my country list. I will be back one day to explore more for sure! Before embarking on this journey I knew it would all be beautiful but once there it exceeded my expectations. If you love nature, beaches, waterfalls, cheap food and learning about a new way of life this is a must country to visit. I did a lot and saw a lot below I will do a little bit of my favs.  My favorite activities where: Swimming with whale sharks Canyoneering Kawasan...
