Honestidad

"Now more than ever I realize I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere'' Isabelle Eberhart

I neglected to talk about some important first impressions of Japan in my last post. Japan has won over my heart and soul. The people here are so humane, so honest, so humble, so beautiful. I have fallen in love with the way of life. I will never forget when I first came out of the airport, there was a sea on bicycles and they were not locked in chains... I thought so many things, but it struck me, do people not steal bikes here? Immediately I felt so much safety and comfort in this country. ( I admit I've been a victim of getting my bike stolen once. In college it was a beautiful commuter that my dads boss, Mike gifted me) And so it goes without saying that people in Japan have truly beautiful souls, they do not believe in stealing! (I mean I guess a lot of us don't but in the societies I have lived previously everything is locked..phones, cars, houses etc...because stealing happens a lot.) I mean of course there are rare occasions when things do get stolen and stuff, but so uncommon. How can a whole culture have so much honesty and integrity? well turns out honesty is rewarded here, and I was told some religions believe stealing things is stealing a part of someones soul (SO: JS). Have y'all seen that picture of the old Japanese man waiting for a light to turn green so he could walk? for a long time he waited. There was not a car in sight. Ugh, it's just so beautiful it fills my heart and soul. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a beautiful culture and I have never in my life felt so safe ( USA  I think we still have so much to learn from other countries and cultures)

That is all for now. Here are a few pictures from this past week:

Tsuruta is so bike friendly.

Mount Iwaki finally shows itself!

Self explanatory.

Ya'll asked for it so here it is: My 10 day itinerary for The Philippines.

Twin lagoon. Oh boy was it hard to pick what Islands I would explore. I had been waiting to visit this beautiful side of the world for soooo long and I kept putting it off because the planning for it is difficult. The Philippines is composed of over 7,000 islands and transportation from island to island is not that simple or convenient at times  depending which ones you want to see). But guess what I finally made an itinerary and it worked out perfectly and now I am back. I still can't believe I checked off The Philippines from my country list. I will be back one day to explore more for sure! Before embarking on this journey I knew it would all be beautiful but once there it exceeded my expectations. If you love nature, beaches, waterfalls, cheap food and learning about a new way of life this is a must country to visit. I did a lot and saw a lot below I will do a little bit of my favs.  My favorite activities where: Swimming with whale sharks Canyoneering Kawasan...

Koyo

"Before it's your favorite place, it's a place you've never been " It is Koyo ( the changing color of the leaves, autumn) season! I have always loved the fact that Oregon gets 4 seasons. Japan gets four seasons as well! The bright oranges and reds are just incredible here. I have been revisiting some of my favorite spots around my new town to see how they change with the seasons. Here are some pictures at Jogakura Bridge.

Okinawa Get-Away

" Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer"-Unknown Heart shaped rocks in Oki Well I finally checked off one of the prefectures I wanted to visit off my list. Okinawa, Japan it has been called the Hawaii of Japan by many tourists. I have been to Hawaii and I agree that it is the paradise of the country. I went with my friend Anna and a new friend that made (friend of Anna's) Ben. We rented a car and three different AirBnB night accommodations while we were in Okinawa, at it was the best decision we made because we got to see everything we wanted to see! Granted the Island is not that huge but still, we checked off our lists.  Rainbow and unicorn bagels at Caracalla. Our first stop was Caracalla bagels, and boy was I glad we got our hands on these colorful bagels...because they had the last 3 when we got there! They sell out everyday and we went on a Thursday thinking we wouldn't have that issue. Phewww that was close. Lowkey (thanks Ben...
