I moved to Japan!

To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world. - Freya Stark

Well it's officially been a week since I landed in Japan. I do not even know where to begin with everything I have learned. One thing for sure is that I am extremely happy to have a place of my own, I didn't realize how much I needed my own space until I was able to have it,  my goodness.
Tsurunomai Bridge, found here in my new hometown! biggest wooden footbridge in Japan! It is said if you walk across it you will have a long life! (Mt. Iwaki hidden behind the clouds, haven't seen the mountain as a whole since I got here-darn clouds)

I arrived in Tokyo first, stayed a night, and flew out to Aomori the next morning. (It's way cheaper like that in case you want to visit me ;))

When I first arrived in Aomori I was picked up by my supervisor and a co-worker, both whom are wonderful women! They drove me into my new home town, Tsuruta. On my drive I couldn't help to notice how incredibly green everything was ( seems like more so than Oregon- whaaaaa?!) I know crazy right? Also tons and tons of Apple trees and signs for Onsens ( hot springs), ummm yes please can't wait to visit them all!
so many apple trees! (Can you spot the cool Eagle kite?they are all over the orchards)

As soon as we got into town, we got right to business. I was taken to get groceries, I was taken to a wonderful lunch, I got a cellphone (can you believe an iPhone was the cheapest option), got my apartment keys, and all that jazz. Oh and by the way I came in on festival night, score!  I got to see the wonderful Matsuri Festival Parade, so much fun! I was invited to dance in it the following day- I said yes and I did, and guess what I didn't screw up the dance. I did it!
I was dolled up by a wonderful woman whose name I didn't get :(

Pictured here, my supervisor Ikuko-San on left, my coworker Anna, and my neighbor Emma.

I love bows!!!! Everything is so "kawaii "(cute) in Japan.

Well it's Monday night in Japan (16 hours ahead of Oregon) and I am just pondering on everything I have learned. Like I said, I have learned so much. Including today I practiced driving on the right side (steering wheel) didn't think I would be able to do that without going into the wrong lane, but I did it and what helped me was non stop repetition " Make sure your driver side is close to middle line of road.Make sure your driver side is close to middle line of road.Make sure your driver side is close to middle line of road. " Oh boy- no one will be able to stop me now! I will be exploring all I can in my new little Japanese car, which is kinda old so I will definitely be having adventures (i.e side of road breakdowns.)

Oh and on the second day I was here they had an amazing fireworks show, like seriously the best I HAVE EVER SEEN! They had music to accompany them and they shot out to the rhythm of the tunes and they had surprise fireworks here and there ( like new shapes and noises) It was so cool!
The amazing fireworks.

This is the building I work at, Isn't it magical?

My office mascot, such a cutie patootie (new gifts from our PR dude)

Oh and another one of my favorite things...everything in Japan has cute @$$ MASCOTS! Like this one, this is my office mascot, can you believe it?! ugh soo Kawaii!!! (cute) and my bank is a blue teddy bear with an apple hat. I was meant to be here, my inner child that loves cute monitos loves it here!

And last but not least getting sushi at a carousel belt-thinga-majig (Ok Ariel?) was so much fun! The sushi was deliciosooo! and so fresh and so clean and fast! I am in sushi heaven ya'll.
1st sushi experience in japan.

Corazón contento en Bali

" Pictures are a one way ticket to a memory..." - unknown Well I haven't blogged in some days now ( I don't plan on blogging every single day... some of you asked ) A lot has happened and my heart has been racing with excitement every single day. I am In love with the Islands of Indonesia, and I hope that you all can experience it some day. It's true that pictures are worth a thousand words, so here are some pictures and small captions. It's Tuesday on my side of the world, and my week in Indonesia is almost over. Every single time I go to a beach and go horseback riding I ask if I can take the horses into the water, thus far different state and country rules of places I have been to don't allow it. In the Gilli Islands horseback riding in the ocean is possible. I have  always wanted to ride in the ocean! My horse was swimming, I was swimming and the wind that hit my face whispered words of freedom. Goal number #35 - check!  ...

¡Ya llegué!

This is where I am staying, Karana Residence. I finally made it to Bali, Indonesia ! Goodness. So many emociones. I left Oregon on Tuesday... and arrived today Thursday at 2:40pm Bali time. Woah. My first flight from Portland was to Canada ( 1.5 hour flight), then Canada to Singapore (13 hour flight), then Singapore to Manila (3.5 hours ) and finally Manila to Bali ( 3 hours) + about 9 hours at airport transfers... phew!!!  As soon as I arrived at the Bali airport I took out some rupiahs from the ATM and headed out to find a taxi. My "taxi" ended up being some random guy who wasn't a taxi and got lost trying to find Karana... sigh. Wasted 1 whole hour, I mapped it out beforehand and  it was supposed to be a 6 minute drive from airport (eye roll) The roads in Bali are like a labyrinth and everyone is on scooters. Once I got settled I threw my stuff in my room and headed to the beach.  I got to see the sunset and after all those flights and lost ...

First Stop - Korea

I made it to Korea!!! it was a very longgggggggggg plane ride (11hrs) and the last hour I started to feel sick, but I was able to take care of myself and now I am feeling my healthy self again! The plane ride was an experience in itself. First off it was the biggest plane I've ever flown in with 8 seats of width!!! and 12 flight attendants (yes, I counted). I thought it was very nice that  all the passengers got their own pair of slippers ^_^. Another thing I had never seen was that we all got hot wet towels handed to us from baskets with tongs which people seemed to use to either clean their hands or wipe their face, I choose to clean my hands. Lastly I got to enjoy some "Bibimbap" which is a famous Korean cuisine composed of steamed rice, minced beef and other veggies! xoxo, Yesi P.S Kudos to Asiana Airlines they collected money for UNICEF!!!!! what a great way to give back, and what a great idea to collect loose currency, a money little adds up!!!
